Estimated total

$4,4756 of 7 parts sold here
Small black desk in a bedroom corner at night, between a bed and a door: an AOC monitor on a black gas spring arm, a pegboard above with a shelf, a controller and a green under-light, a compact ASUS ROG NUC standing on the desk, a Razer keyboard with RGB backlight and a black mouse on a mat, a HyperX headset hanging under the desk, a black mesh chair with a headrest and a city view through the window

Compact Corner is for gamers who only have a corner of a bedroom or a studio flat. The desk is small, so everything that can leave it does: the monitor floats on a gas spring arm, the headset hangs under the desk, and the computer is an ASUS ROG NUC of about 3 litres instead of a tower.

Small does not mean slow. The NUC's Core Ultra 9 and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU have plenty of power for a 1080p 180 Hz screen, which is easy to drive. The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL brings Rapid Trigger in a tenkeyless width, and the Razer Cobra weighs only 58 g. The pegboard above the desk holds the controller and small things on the wall.

The AOC 24G50F is sold in France; in the US, a 27-inch 1440p screen such as the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACG-W stays within the arm's 27-inch limit and makes better use of the NUC. On a smaller budget, remember that the NUC carries most of the cost: if you have floor space, a tower such as the LDLC PC11 ART or the MSI Codex R2 costs far less. Mind the chair too: the Sihoo Doro C300 needs about 71 x 71 cm, the IKEA MARKUS less.

  1. Monitor

    AOC Gaming 24G50F

    AOC

    Why we picked it

A 24-inch 1080p IPS screen that reaches 180 Hz, small enough for a shallow desk and easy for the NUC to drive. Its stand only tilts, which is why it goes on an arm through its VESA 100 mount. Sold in France.

  2. Monitor arm

Amazon Basics Gas Spring Single Monitor Arm

    Amazon Basics

    Why we picked it

It lifts the AOC off the desk and frees the space a stand would take, which counts on a small top. Gas spring height, tilt, swivel, and a clamp or grommet mount, for screens up to 27 inches and 7 kg; the joints are stiff at first and the tension needs setting.

  3. Gaming PC

ASUS ROG NUC (2025) Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU

    ASUS

    Why we picked it

About 3 litres with a Core Ultra 9 275HX, an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and 32 GB of DDR5, so a gaming PC fits on the corner of the desk. The GPU is a laptop chip and cannot be upgraded, the trade-off for the size.

    Why we picked it

Analog optical switches with Rapid Trigger in a tenkeyless layout, so the mouse keeps room on a narrow desk. The magnetic wrist rest comes in the box; it is wired only.

    HyperX

    Why we picked it

Hanging under the desk, it takes no surface at all. A metal frame, a detachable mic and both 3.5 mm and USB connections, so it also works with a console.

    Sihoo

    Why we picked it

Self-adjusting lumbar support, 4D armrests and a headrest for long sessions. Its 71 x 71 cm footprint is large for a corner, so check the room to roll back; the IKEA MARKUS is the narrower option.
