About the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2

The ScreenBar Halo 2 sits on top of your monitor and lights the desk without reflecting on the screen. Its asymmetric front light reaches over 1,000 lux at the center and keeps 500 lux over an 85 x 50 cm area, with a CRI of 95 or more. A three-zone backlight behind the monitor lowers the contrast between a bright screen and a dark room, and the color temperature runs from 2700 K to 6500 K, including on the backlight.

A rechargeable wireless controller with a numeric touch panel handles brightness and color temperature, and an ultrasonic sensor turns the light on when you sit down and off when you leave. The clip fits screens 0.43 to 6 cm thick, including curved models from 1000R to 1800R.

Seen in these setups

Where it sits in real desks, and why it earned its place there.

Black desk in a dark room with a 27-inch LG UltraGear OLED monitor under a BenQ light bar, an HP OMEN 35L tower with RGB fans on the right, a black SteelSeries headset on a stand on the left, a Keychron keyboard and a black mouse on a long mat, a Herman Miller Aeron chair in front and a green LED line on the wall

Signal Noir

Why it is here

The LG has a glossy screen that reflects lamps, so the desk light comes from a bar on top of the monitor instead of a lamp in front of it. Its backlight also brightens the wall behind the screen, and the presence sensor turns it off when you leave.

White gaming desk against a wall lit pink on the left and sky blue on the right, with a white ASUS ROG monitor under a light bar, a white NZXT tower with glowing fans and a white liquid cooler, a white headset on a stand, a white RGB keyboard and a white mouse on a glowing mat, and a light gray Razer chair in the foreground

Frost RGB

Why it is here

On a desk lit mostly by RGB, the light bar gives real white light on the keyboard, tunable from 2700 to 6500 K, without a lamp taking space. Its grey finish is the one non-white part here, and it sits out of the way on top of the monitor.

Black sit/stand desk in a dark room with an LG UltraGear OLED monitor under a BenQ light bar, a black Wooting keyboard and a white Logitech mouse on a large SteelSeries pad, a HyperX headset on a stand on the right, an MSI tower with green and blue fans on the floor on the left, a black gaming chair in front and a green light line on the wall

Esports Arena

Why it is here

It lights the pad without a lamp in front of the glossy OLED, which reflects lamps. The presence sensor turns it off between sessions.

Dark developer desk at night with a 34-inch curved Dell ultrawide showing code under a BenQ light bar, a Dell monitor in portrait on an arm on the right, a laptop on a silver stand on the left, a split Keychron keyboard and a vertical Logitech mouse, a CalDigit dock, a dark wood standing desk on a black frame and a Herman Miller Aeron chair

Night Shift Dev

BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 in Night Shift Dev

Why it is here

It fits curved monitors, so it sits on the ultrawide and lights the keyboard without a lamp on the desk. Its backlight softens the contrast between a bright screen and a dark wall late at night, and the presence sensor turns it off when you leave.
