The ATH-M50x is the closed-back studio pair on the stand in our broadcast booth. Closed cups keep your monitoring out of the mic, and the 45 mm drivers give the detailed, punchy sound it is known for.
The ear cups swivel 90 degrees for one-ear monitoring, the headband folds, and the box includes a coiled cable plus two straight cables (1.2 m and 3.0 m). It weighs 285 g without the cable. There is no mic, so pair it with a desk microphone.
Where it sits in real desks, and why it earned its place there.
